(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Matthew McConaughey thinks comedy movies are the hardest films to appear in.

The actor is currently promoting his picture The Lincoln Lawyer, in which he portrays defence attorney Mick Haller who practices his business from the back of his car. He represents high-profile client Louis Roulet, played by Ryan Phillippe, who has been accused of a vicious sexual assault.

Matthew is well known for appearing in romantic comedies and made a conscious decision to tackle a new challenge by doing the gritty movie.

Id done enough comedies where I was like, Those are fun. I understand that game. But I want to play a different game. So I was conscious to that extent, he admitted. In a way, theres more acting to do in comedies. As far as honesty: Is that how you would really react? How you would handle a situation? With jokes? In a way, theres more acting to not be yourself in those. If I was going to handle life how I would handle things in a romantic comedy, [the romantic relationship] would be over in 15 minutes.

Matthew originally planned to train as a lawyer and thinks acting and being an attorney are very similar. The star prepared for his role by visiting a number of courtrooms and listening to the lawyers telling a story.

Theres a lot of natural overlap. The defence attorney more than the prosecutor, hes the storyteller. I sat in a lot of courtrooms when I was getting ready for this part. And I saw attorneys win and blow cases based on their performances, he told The Daily Beast. (C) Cover Media
