(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Matthew McConaughey's family have a "wonderfully wild" sense of humour.

The actor was born in a small town in Texas and had a Methodist upbringing. Although his parents are religious, they can appreciate some of his more controversial movie roles.

He recently played a crazed police officer who moonlights as a contract murderer in the comedy thriller Killer Joe and his mom found it hugely entertaining.

"We're still in the church. But my family has a wonderfully, wild, beautiful sense of humour," he told Total Film. "My mom said, Ooh, Matthew. Ooh, you bad. You baaad. You bad, bad, bad.' She was laughing."

The 42-year-old star has attracted hordes of fans with his good looks and charming personality. Matthew never had trouble dating when he was younger, but his dad taught him to treat females well.

"You respect a woman," he explained. "I remember my father telling us very early the birds and bees part. He goes, You're gonna kiss, and it's gonna go further. If you ever, ever sense the slightest bit of resistance, when you're approaching or trying to, you know, get under their shirt if you feel the slightest resistance, you stop.'"

Matthew is widely regarded as one of the hottest hunks in Hollywood and was named Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine in 2005.

He doesn't pay too much attention to the interest in his good looks, but admits it is nice to be appreciated.

"Oh, a pinch of sugar. It's flattering," he replied, when asked how he felt about winning the title. "There are a lot worse lists to be on. It doesn't make me feel like I am more significant, but it's a nice comment. I mean, the Sexiest Man Alive? F**k, I'll take that." (C) Cover Media
