(Cover) - EN Movies - Matthew McConaughey and Hilary Swank have signed on to star in The Dallas Buyers Club.

The Hollywood pair will appear in the upcoming real-life drama movie which is written by Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack. Jean-Marc Vallee, who is famed for his work on The Young Victoria, will direct the movie.

The story focuses on Texas electrician Ron Woodroof who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 and given six months to live. Instead, he lived for six years, illegally smuggling alternative medicine into the United States to help him and other AIDS sufferers.

The news was reported at the Cannes International Film Festival yesterday.

Robbie Brenner is producing with Rachel Rothman-Winter and Nathan Ross.

Brad Pitt was reportedly set to produce and star in the highly-anticipated film in 2007 with Marc Forster attached to direct. (C) Cover Media
