(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Mel Gibson will transfer half of his assets to his newly divorced wife in what may be the biggest Hollywood divorce payout in history.

Mel's divorce from ex-wife Robyn Gibson became official yesterday after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge signed off on their settlement.

People magazine reports that Robyn will receive half of Mel's estimated $850 million fortune as part of the divorce decree.

Mel and Robyn married in 1980 and have seven children together.

The couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement when they wed and Robyn is entitled to half of Mel's net worth as a result of their marriage's dissolution.

Robyn is entitled to receive half of every film residual payment that Mel receives as long as he lives.

Robyn retains Mel's two Malibu, California homes which are valued together at $22.5 million.

Mel is still undergoing a custody battle with Oksana Grigorieva over their two-year-old daughter Lucia Gibson. (C) Cover Media
