(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Melissa McCarthy designed her "wildly comfortable" Emmy's dress.
The Mike & Molly star was named Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday.
Melissa turned up on the red carpet in a floor-length purple gown, which showed off her curvy figure to perfection.
The 41-year-old comedienne has revealed the gown was her own creation.
"I designed [my dress] and I worked with Daniella Pearl, who is an amazing couture dressmaker," she told US Weekly. "I just didn't see anything that I liked out there.
"It's wildly comfortable."
Melissa was thrilled with the outcome of her red-carpet outfit. The actress says a lot of hard work was put into the creation of the dress, and she feels proud of her accomplishment.
"I did not sew this at all, but [Daniella Pearl and I] just kept sketching," she revealed.
"It takes a village, and we came up with this and I love it. It has pockets, and I love that in a gown."
Melissa also revealed her style beginnings. The American actress says her fashion dreams were swallowed up when comedy came onto the scene.
"I went to college for clothing and textiles and always thought I would design women's clothing," she said.
"Then [I] ended up in New York thinking I was going to go FIT and I started doing standup. So how A went to B, I don't know!"
Melissa took home the gong for the coveted acting award, and was joined on the stage by her fellow nominees Tina Fey, Laura Linney, Edie Falco, Martha Plimpton and Amy Poehler. (C) Cover Media
