(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Michael Cera is disappointed he won’t be able to use any of the “skills” he learnt while making his new movie in real life.
The 22-year-old Canadian actor plays the title role in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, a romantic action movie about a boy who had to defeat the evil exes of a girl he wants to date named Ramona before he can win her heart.
The role required Michael to train in various fighting skills, as when his character takes on the seven vicious ex-partners of Ramona, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, he takes part in epic battles.
Michael mastered new complex skills including sword fighting and acrobatics for the role in the movie which features numerous surreal and fantastical scenes. Although he enjoyed tackling the action scenes, the he regrets his new talents won’t be very helpful in day-to-day life.
“Every fight scene has a different tone and edge to it. They were all equally challenging and complex to put together. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to apply any of the skills I’ve learned to real life,” he told Empire magazine.
The movie is based in the comic-book series by Bryan Lee O’Malley and was directed by British filmmaker Edgar Wright, best known for his quirky comedies such as Shaun of the Dead. (C) Cover Media
