(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Michael Douglas says he is taking time to smell the roses.

The Hollywood star received intense radiation and chemotherapy for stage four cancer after a walnut sized tumour was discovered in his throat last year. Earlier this month he announced the lump is gone, although he will be required to continue having regular check-ups.

Michael attended the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles yesterday with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones. The 66-year-old revealed he was thrilled to be there and was continuing to celebrate his good news.

I am so happy to be out, we havent been out for months and months. To be at this kind of thing cancer free is pretty special, he said on the red carpet. Catherine was in A Little Night Music which kept us busy for the first half of the year and then cancer took over the last half.

So you smell the roses, on a night like this you smell the roses. You have a deeper appreciation for your friends and family.

Michael received a standing ovation at the ceremony as he appeared on stage to present the prize for Best Motion Picture Drama. The actor made a joke about the audiences warm reaction to his clean bill of health before revealing The Social Network had won the award.
