Michael Jackson immortalised in LA

27th January 2012

Michael Jackson has been immortalised with a hand and footprint ceremony in Los Angeles.

The late singer's three children Prince, 14, Paris, 13 and nine-year-old Blanket paid tribute to their father by imprinting his hand and footmarks into cement outside Grauman s Chinese Theatre.

They used the musician's famous sequin glove and a pair of his dancing shoes to create the imprints.

"This, right here, is his lifetime achievement award," Prince was quoted as saying by American publication People. "This is what he strived to get, and this is what we are giving him now."

The three children also added their own handprints.

Jackson's mother, Katherine and brothers Tito and Jackie also attended the poignant event.

Amongst the guest paying their respect was teenage pop sensation Justin Bieber, actor Chris Tucker and legendary musicians Smokey Robinson and Quincy Jones.

Being a big fan of the King of Pop, Justin took the opportunity to speak at the ceremony.

"Michael meant so much to me and I know he meant a lot to you guys as well," he was quoted by US Weekly magazine. "He was more than entertainer: he was an inspiration in the way he was kind, he was gentle and very charitable. That's why I look up to him."
