Star magazine has revealed the almost-billion-dollar haul is in the middle of a legal fight after it emerged it was being sold off for $87.7 million to an unknown businessman without the consent of the singer's family.

The late star's estate are trying to block the sale to ensure the fortune is past down to Michael's three children; Prince, 13, Paris, 12, and Blanket, eight.

According to Star, an appraisal of the 182 pieces of the "rare intact major collection" was valued at $902.52 million with "an invaluable pedigree for future sales in the international market".

The haul also includes original art pieces by Michael himself, as well as a rocking chair by of one President John F. Kennedy's White House staffers for his use in the Oval Office, proving the singer had many valuables that were never previously disclosed.

Australian painter Brett-Livingstone Strong was a close friend of Michael's and is said to have taught him a great deal about art. (C) Cover Media
