Michael Madsen is "grateful" that authorities will not prosecute him for child endangerment.
The Kill Bill actor was arrested at 3.55pm last Friday afternoon in Los Angeles after getting into a physical fight with his son at his home.
TMZ reports that today the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office has decided not to press charges against Madsen for felony child endangerment, as there is insufficient evidence to prosecute the case.
Madsen is reportedly elated with the news.
"Michael is grateful that this unfortunate family incident is now closed and thanks those that thoroughly investigated this matter," his attorney Perry Wander told the website.
Police officers are said to have responded to a call about a dispute at Madsen's residence in Malibu. The 54-year-old star was then taken to a sheriff's department.
Madsen allegedly began fighting with his teenage son after he caught him using drugs.
He has five sons and it is not yet known which one was involved in the incident.
"[Madsen] found his son smoking pot and they got in an argument when he tried to take it away," said his attorney Perry Wander previously. "It's a family matter and Michael asks that his family's privacy be respected."
The teenager is not believed to have required any medical attention following the altercation.
The star who has also appeared in Reservoir Dogs and Sin City - was held on $100,000 bail.
