(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Michael Phelps is open to appearing on Dancing with the Stars.

The American swimmer became the most decorated Olympian in history this week when he won his 22nd medal at the London 2012 Games, 18 of which have been gold.

Michael has now retired from the sport and is considering other offers, revealing he might even appear on the popular US televised dancing contest. He's even spoken to his fellow swimmer Natalie Coughlin and speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno about the show.

"I haven't really been known for my dancing. I know everyone who's done it - I've talked to Apolo and Natalie about it, and they said they've enjoyed it and had a blast," he told Us Weekly.

"I won't say I'm ruling anything out, who knows?"

Michael is unsure which professional dancer he'd like to be paired with. If he got to pick one person to twirl around the floor, he'd go for Natalie.

He also spoke of how much he is looking forward to life outside the pool.

"I want to be on my own time and waking up in the morning thinking, 'I wanna go here,' and then just getting up and doing it," he said. (C) Cover Media
