(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Miley Cyrus's father Billy Ray Cyrus is reportedly hoping his daughter does not rush to the altar.

The 19-year-old announced her engagement to The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth on Wednesday.

And although all involved are happy about the news, Billy Ray apparently wants them to wait a while before they take the next step.

"They knew it was coming," a source told RadarOnline. "Liam lived with Miley and her parents when they began dating in 2009."

"Billy Ray and Tish love him like a son. However, Billy Ray is concerned about how young they are and he hopes that they aren't in a rush to get married.

"Billy Ray hopes the engagement will be very long, but he isn't opposed to the marriage at all."

While Miley tweeted that she is thrilled "all my dreams are coming true," her father said that he's happy she knows "true love."

"Liam is part of the Cyrus family and he is very close with Miley's mom, Tish," the insider added. "It's not easy for Billy Ray to realise his oldest daughter is getting married. In Billy Ray's eyes she will always be his little girl." (C) Cover Media
