Milla Jovovich reveals that she was happy to finally marry her husband after a particularly long engagement.

The actress met mate Paul W.S. Anderson, Resident Evil franchise writer and director, while filming the first instalment of the sci-fi franchise and was engaged to him by the second.

The couple then welcomed daughter Ever Gabo four years ago.

They weren't married until much later into their relationship and Milla was elated to walk down the aisle at last.

"We gave birth between the third and the fourth films, and we were engaged forever," Milla recalled to Extra.

"We finally tied the knot three years ago, which was great."

Milla, who has starred as protagonist Alice in all five pictures, is extremely excited about the release of Resident Evil: Retribution.

She thinks fans will particularly enjoy the latest movie.

"It is just the craziest Resident Evil yet, that's for sure," she gushed.

"I mean the scope of the action sequences is incredible."
