Miranda Kerr: Orlando wanted epidural

18th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Orlando Bloom joked he wanted an epidural during the birth of his son with wife Miranda Kerr as it pained him to see her in agony.

The pair welcomed baby Flynn into the world in January. Miranda's labour lasted 27 hours and was completely natural, as she'd always wanted.

The 28-year-old beauty says that despite just about holding up in the delivery room, it was a different scenario for her concerned spouse.

In a revealing interview with Australian television program Sunday Night, Miranda revealed Orlando joked he needed drugs during the birth more than she did.

"I had made the decision to not have any drugs, no epidural, nothing. Each to their own. I'm crazy for doing that! A lot of my friends who have had epidurals have said, Oh [labour] was so great'", she explained.

"I remember looking at Orlando and saying Oh honey'. And he said, Give me the epidural! Seriously, if you don't want it I'll take it because right now I'm dying watching you go through this pain.'"

Miranda also revealed that Orlando did not give up hope when it came to first dating her. The pair got together in late 2007, and married in the summer of 2010.

The stunning was "reluctant" to date Orlando in the first instance because of his movie star status.

"I think it was his persistence. Maybe he wanted me because he thought he couldn't have me," she revealed. "I was reluctant - not about him, but the idea of that [him being a movie star]."

Miranda is not ruling out having more children with Orlando, 34. However, the model - who is famed for her work with iconic lingerie brand Victoria's Secret - is making the most of her time with her new arrival for now.

"I always thought I would have three. Right now I'm just trying to enjoy Flynn," she said. "They say the first three years are the most important, so I want to make sure that he gets the attention and the nurturing and love that he really needs, so we'll see what happens." (C) Cover Media
