Chris Evans expected movie meltdown

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Chris Evans is amazed he hasn't had a "meltdown" while making Captain America.

The Hollywood hunk piled on the weight to play the musclebound superhero in the forthcoming Captain America: The First Avenger. However, it wasn't the physical efforts that scared Chris. He sought therapy sessions prior to shooting the film as he wasn't sure he could cope with the attention that comes with starring in summer blockbusters. While he did appear in the two Fantastic Four movies he was part of an ensemble, rather than the lead actor.

"It was one of the things where I said, Listen, if I'm going to do this, I've got to get my head right,'" Chris told Access Hollywood. "I struggle a lot with interviews like this even talking about this.

"I'm surprised I haven't had a meltdown yet! But you know, it's not like we had some big breakthroughs in therapy where we both wept - it's just nice to vocalise things that you're dealing with."

Chris was famously reluctant about taking on the role, and initially baulked at being contracted to play the hero for a further nine more films if the studio wished. However, after trimming the contract offer to six films, he decided to sign on for the eagerly awaited movie.

"I guess I wasn't 100% convinced that the goal in my life was to become a giant movie star," he explained. "And if that's not the end game, then jumping on to a six-picture deal might be a risky endeavour So, that was scary.

"And then just a lifestyle change. It's not every day you're doing a movie that has this type of a following and this type of a summer blockbuster feel, and as a result, you could lose some anonymity. I love my privacy, and that was a compromise I wasn't sure I was willing to make." (C) Cover Media
