Mohit Raina to tackle crime in his next 'Bhaukaal'

7th February 2019

Basking in glory with the success of 'URI: The Surgical Strike', actor Mohit Raina has yet another reason to celebrate. The actor is roped in to portray a police officer for web series titled, 'Bhaukaal'.

Making it official, the production banner Applause Entertainment shared it on their official Twitter handle,"With #Bhaukaal, we bring to you, a gripping retelling of the true story of Officer Navniet Sekera and the gangs of Muzzafarnagar. A show starring @mohituraina that's going to leave you at the edge of your seat! #StreamingSoon"

Inspired & adapted from real life, this series is based on turf and criminal wars in Uttar Pradesh and how an IPS officer Navniet Sekera took charge of it in early 2000.

Mohit Raina said,"'Bhaukaal' brings me a chance to play a brave police officer, one who brought change and broke through the age old criminal and local political nexus. I am happy and excited to play this character."

On collaborating with director Jatin Wagle, actor-turned-producer Harman Baweja said,"I've always wanted to create a show that flips how we perceive the real world and Navniet Sekera's story is just that, unapologetic, compelling and inspiring. The riveting story showcases the challenges faced and heart with which the police force fights crime."

Director Wagle said,"What drew me to the story is the length a person can go for what is right; risking his own existence is the essence of the story. The risks Navniet Sekera took to try and better a faulty society is just outstanding. A son, a husband, a father and above all this a true Indian and a true human being, this is a story that needs to be told."

Sameer Nair, CEO Applause Entertainment, said,"'Bhaukaal' captures the thrill and drama of law and order tackling crime in a localised Indian context."
