Director Gaurav Jain has come up with a history based animation movie titled Ashoka The Hero. This is yet another addition to the not so successful animation genre in India.

The story of the film is set on 32 BC when King Ashoka was devastated at the sight of death of 100,000 people in the Kalinga war. The carnage moves the King and he calls up nine wise men from across the world to save the mankind from this destruction. These nine men bring together the powers of nature and put them in a medallion.

They hand over the powerful medallion to the Emperors son Masa and he needs to contain it until the rightful owner of it can be found. 2000 years pass by but Masa is still alive and is searching for the rightful owner of the medallion. One day, he meets an eight year old honest boy Ashoka, whose father was a police officer and has been killed. Ashoka is very brave like his father and wants to help others. Masa realizes that Ashoka is the person he is looking for, so he hands over the medallion to him and vanishes accomplishing his long pending mission.

Now, Ashoka gets all those supernatural powers, thanks to the medallion and faces the challenge to fight against corruption. Initially, he doubts his capability but later he realizes the power of the medallion. He turns a hero soon and media is always behind him.

But, things does not move so smoothly because his school works starts getting affected and he is warned not to misuse his abilities and should behave responsively. One day, while fighting with a failed scientist, Ashoka misuses his power as he tries to destroy the opponent. As a result, he loses all the powers. Now, he is left to fight all evils without those powers and need to protect the world from destructive powers.

Animation films have hardly been successful in India so we cannot keep high hope about Ashoka The Hero too!
