Nagraj Manjule's Hindi cinema debut 'Jhund' gets a release date

19th February 2019

Director Nagraj Manjule shot to fame post the super success of his Marathi flick 'Sairat' which was later remade in Hindi titled 'Dhadak' starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. Next milestone in his career was getting the megastar Amitabh Bachchan on board for a flick under his direction titled 'Jhund'.

Excitingly announcing about his collaboration with Big B few months ago, now the film has locked its release date. 'Jhund' is all set to entertain the audience from September 20, 2019 onwards. Marking Manjule's directorial debut in the Hindi cinema, 'Jhund' is based on Vijay Barse, a retired school teacher who succeeds in keeping slum kids away from crime and drugs by forming a soccer team.

This sports drama is based on the life of NGO Slum Soccer founder, which makes it a biographical representation too.

Sharing his experience regarding working with Big B, he said, "No other actor fits the role, only Mr Bachchan can do justice to this particular character. All the others in the film are newcomers since I am known to work with fresh talent. The combination of Mr Bachchan and this young team will be something to look forward to."

'Jhund' is produced under the banner of Tandav Films, Aatpaat and T-Series.
