Nick Cannon: I want twins to be scientists

15th September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Nick Cannon thinks his children should "absolutely not" get into the entertainment industry.

Nick and wife Mariah Carey have four-month-old twins together, daughter Monroe Cannon and son Moroccan Scott Cannon. Although Mariah and Nick have enjoyed successful careers in the entertainment industry, Nick hopes that his kids will follow a different path.

The America's Got Talent host would love to see his twins pursue a career in science or teaching.

"[Entertainment is] absolutely not [the only opportunity for my children]. I just want them to strive for something greater than entertainment," Nick told People backstage after filming the season finale of America's Got Talent. "I'm one of those believers in teachers, professors, heart surgeons. That's what I'm rooting for. If I could get a scientist, that'd be amazing."

Nick and Mariah remain deeply committed to their careers in entertainment. The powerhouse couple are ambitious and value their career opportunities. Still, family is of highest importance.

"My wife is so understanding because she's just as busy and just as focused as I am, so it's kind of like the perfect match," Nick explained. "I love my career and I love being in entertainment, so it never really feels like an occupation. [But] being a father and being a husband comes first." (C) Cover Media
