T.I. returns to halfway house

15th September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - T.I. has returned to an Atlanta halfway house to serve the rest of his prison sentence.

The 30-year-old rapper was released from prison earlier this month from a sentence involving a probation violation on a gun charge. Within hours after this initial release, he was detained by authorities again and put back into an Arkansas jail.

However, today he returned to the halfway house and will leave police custody in a fortnight.

"T.I. will be released from custody on Sept. 29, and then will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for a period of one year," T.I.'s attorney Steve Sadow told TMZ.

Authorities claim they took T.I. back into custody because he travelled in a tour bus from the prison to his halfway house, instead of an authorised van. Authorities also contended that T.I. conducted business for his upcoming reality show on the bus, which was strictly forbidden.

T.I. denies all of these allegations.

He and his legal team believe that his rights were violated and that the star may have been used as some sort of celebrity example.

"We have good reason to believe that this favourable result was reached because of the proactive and assertive approach taken to protect T.I.'s rights by providing B.O.P. officials and the media with reliable and accurate information," Steve explained. "T.I. did not intend to violate his transfer furlough or any other B.O.P. rules en route from the prison facility in Arkansas to the halfway house in Atlanta." (C) Cover Media
