Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa Minnillo are having a baby.

The couple have been together since 2006 and got married last year. There have been various reports that they were eager to start a family together, and Nick has now confirmed they will welcome the new addition to their family later this year.

Nick made the announcement on TV show Live! with Kelly this morning, which he was co-hosting. Discussing an appearance Vanessa made on the show in January, Nick explained: "Later that night, she was in New York and I was in the Bahamas... She went to the store and got a pregnancy test and it came back positive. We're having a baby!"

They couple don't know whether they are having a boy or a girl yet, but both are excited at the prospect of parenthood.

"I'm here to tell you the stage here is a very fertile place," he laughed.

"This is the one thing that more than any other I've looked forward to... It's overwhelming."

The baby is due in late summer or early fall, and the pair have already discussed possible names. For boys, the pair like the moniker Colin John Lachey.

"If it's a girl, I think it might be Sophia. If it's a boy, I'm not sure. [I like Colin John.] Call him C.J. for short. C.J. Lachey," he shared.

Vanessa, 31, has already started experiencing food cravings. Nick joked his wife would eat burritos "every day of the week" if she could.
