(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Nicole Scherzinger was crushed when she wasnt cast as a singing toothbrush at the start of her career, because she would have been spectacular.
The American star made her name in girlband the Pussycat Dolls, and now has a successful solo career. Things didnt come easy for the singer though, and she spent a long time trying to break into the industry. Nicole went to countless auditions across America before getting her big break, and one of them still weighs heavily on her mind.
"I missed out on a couple of big movies when I was on the audition trail early in my career. I got really close but didn't ever get the big job, she explained to British newspaper The Sun.
"For TV stuff I auditioned for this Colgate commercial once. I was really desperate for the job. They didn't cast me as the dancing toothbrush and I would have been spectacular.
"They were teaching us this choreography for the dancing toothbrush and just turned to me and said, 'No'. It was crushing. But I just felt at that moment I was going to prove them wrong. One day they would see I was so that dancing toothbrush - and so much more. I could have been the best dancing toothbrush ever."
Nicole began to hate auditions, because they are so cold and nerve-wracking. She soon grew used to rejection, which makes her particularly pleased shes landed a part in Will Smiths new movie Men in Black III.
The 32-year-old plays Wills characters girlfriend, and cant wait for fans to see a new side to her. Lilly is tough and unforgiving, and very different to Nicole in real life.
She is a futuristic vixen of a villain. Oh, and I get to carry a rocket launcher. I am kinda bad-ass in the movie, I'm not going to lie, she laughed.
The star is very proud of her new album Killer Love, which includes a duet with singing legend Sting. Nicole feared he wouldnt live up to her expectations as she is a such a big fan of his, but was relieved to find he was just as talented and fun as she thought.
She was starstruck when they first met, but soon managed to get over her nerves as Sting was so kind.
His energy is very commanding, in a subtle way. He is giving, generous and kind. There was good 'chi' but no mention of tantric sex, she joked.
Singing on the same mic you are really close. He had fresh breath. No broccoli in the teeth. They took a picture and I was like a five-year-old. He looks stunning and I look scared. (C) Cover Media
