(Cover) - EN Star Style - Nicole Scherzinger disliked being "awkward and lanky" as a youngster.

The 33-year-old singer, who found fame as lead singer of girl group the Pussycat Dolls, is renowned for her beauty and enviable figure.

The stunning star, who now boasts a successful solo career, says she wasn't always so stylish, and often felt awkward due to her exotic heritage.

"I was a quiet, shy child. There weren't too many Hawaiian-Filipino girls in town so I stuck out like a sore thumb," she revealed in the August edition of InStyle magazine.

"That and I was a geek in high school. I was so awkward and lanky. I was never going to be voted prom queen."

Nicole insists wearing glasses were a particular pain. The songstress found eyewear to be an inconvenience when performing during her time with the Pussycat Dolls, who were famed for their energetic dance routines.

"I only got rid of my glasses when I joined the Dolls. I couldn't wear them on stage because when I danced, they would fly around. I couldn't see anything. I was as blind as a bat," she laughed. (C) Cover Media
