Noomi Rapace: Downey is so normal

19th December 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Noomi Rapace was amazed when she saw Robert Downey Jr. plugging in a fan as she thought he'd have "ten assistants" to do that for him.

The two stars appear in the new movie Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, where Robert reprises his role as the British detective and Noomi portrays Madam Simza Heron.

Director Guy Ritchie was convinced Noomi was right for the role of a feisty gypsy as soon as he met her, but was keen for Robert to speak with her too.

"I went to meet him in his office in Los Angeles on a really hot day," she recalled. "Robert was on his hands and knees crawling under the desk to plug the fan in he was so concerned that I was overheating. I remember thinking, Don't you have ten assistants to do that?'"

Guy first came across Noomi after seeing her in the Swedish movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She portrayed computer hacker Lisbeth Salander in the movie, the first of three adapted from the Millennium series of books by Stieg Larsson.

Another version of the movie is out this month, featuring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara.

Noomi expects people to compare her portrayal of Lisbeth to Rooney but is uninterested in what critics say.

"I saw a poster when I was in LA. But I'm done. I'm really finished with her. I did everything I could and couldn't see any reason for doing it again," she explained to the British edition of Vogue magazine. "Why should I? I think everyone else has a bigger problem with it than me."

David Fincher directed the upcoming version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and it's just been named MTV's Best Movie of 2011.

Rooney was on hand to accept the accolade and explained how much the picture means to her.

"So many people worked so hard on this film. It was just a year of really hard work. I feel like we put so much work into it," she told MTV. "That's all we really want, for people to love the film and to go out and see it and fall in love with these characters the way we did. Of course, it's nice to hear that people like the film."
