Nora Ephron memorial held

9th July 2012

Nora Ephron's memorial service was held in New York today where a stellar list of celebrities came out to honour her.

The legendary screenwriter-and-filmmaker passed away last month at the age of 71.

Nora, a three-time nominee for the best screenplay Oscar, is famed for her romantic comedies including When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle.

She had passed away of pneumonia after a battle with leukemia and her death was a shock to many as she had hidden her illness from the public.

Meg Ryan, John Hamm, Steve Martin, Steven Spielberg and Diane Von Furstenberg were among the attendees at the Lincoln Center on Monday morning.

The beloved Hollywood great was praised on Twitter by former colleagues whose lives she had impacted.

"I was very lucky to say her words," Billy Crystal wrote who had starred in When Harry Met Sally

"She was the one you wanted to read, to listen to, to be in the company of," Steve Martin wrote. "Sadness reigns."
