Paris Hilton denied Japan entry

22nd September 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Paris Hilton has been denied entry into Japan.

The socialite was due to visit Tokyo in order to promote her fashion and fragrance collection today. She flew to the country yesterday, but was blocked at the airport as officials wanted to question her following her appearance at a Las Vegas court on Monday. The star had pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine, and received a one-year suspended sentenced, community service and a $2,000 fine.

Paris was forced to spend the night at a hotel after Japanese officials interrogated her. It is believed the questioning lasted a total of six hours over the two days.

Japan has a very strict immigration policy which means anybody who has been convicted of a drug offence cannot visit the country, although Paris had hoped to still enter because occasionally exceptions are said to be granted.

The 29-year-old celebrity is thought to have taken the news well as she prepared for the return journey to her Hollywood home.

"I'm going back home, and I look forward to coming back to Japan in the future," she told reporters at Tokyo's airport.

As well as her planned work in Tokyo, Paris had also hoped to promote her collections in other Asian hotspots including Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia. (C) Cover Media
