(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Paris Hilton is surprised she is not "married with kids by now".

Last month the socialite split from boyfriend of 18 months, Cy Waits, and says her love life has become more complicated than she ever thought it would.

In an interview with Life & Style magazine, the heiress says the path her life has taken is not an expected one.

"When I was a little girl, I always imagined I'd be married with kids by now," Paris shared. "It's not where I thought I'd be. I'm 30, and I'm by myself."

Paris, who has recently been linked to Hangover director Todd Phillips, has learned some lessons from her last relationship. She regrets Cy being so prominent in her recent series, The World According to Paris, but found seeing footage from the show helpful.

"By watching the show, I got an outside perspective of our relationship. I realised that yes, I love him and he's one of my best friends, but I needed to make sure he was the one," Paris said. "When I realised I wasn't certain I knew I had to end it."

Paris said that watching her relationship on the show has been a wake-up call but now she knows what she wants for her future. She is eager to work through certain issues before settling down.

"I want to be married and pregnant in two to five years," the party girl said. "But first I have to work through my trust issues." (C) Cover Media
