(Cover) - EN Movies - Scott Stewart says Paul Bettanys haunted look is perfect for the science fiction genre.

The 39-year-old actor stars alongside Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q and Karl Urban in sci-fi horror movie Priest, which tells the story of a holy man who disobeys church law to hunt down vampires who kidnapped his niece.

Scott says Paul has the perfect aesthetic to convincingly carry off fantasy-inspired roles.

He has that chiseled, haunted look with his thousand-yard stare. Its interesting because hes really warm and funny, and yet he comes across as cold and timeless. He fits well into a science fiction world visually, he said in an interview with Screen Cave. There are certain actors that you just believe in fantastic settings. Some actors are wonderful, but they feel contemporary you want to do a romantic comedy with them.

Scott has used the British actor in the lead role on his first two directed features, Legion and upcoming Priest. The filmmaker says Pauls talent and friendship makes working together an enjoyable experience.

Were really close friends we like to geek out on the same stuff. Hes a great filmmaker, in addition to being a really good actor, so he makes your job easier, he said.

Scott has revealed the atmosphere on the set of Priest was strangely pleasant. The director says that the cast and crew remained friendly throughout shooting, right up until wrap day.

Paul and I had a discussion pretty early on about being co-heads in a way. We wanted to set a tone. Making films is hard. Its gruelling, so we didnt want it to be a miserable grind, he said. We wrapped a couple hours early on our last day, and everyone stayed. It was the weirdest thing in the world. Usually, people just disappear like rats on a sinking ship, but Maggie had food brought in and everybody just hung out. (C) Cover Media
