(Cover) - EN Movies - Woody Allen would love to meet his heroes, although only if they were as hed imagined them to be.
The veteran moviemaker unveiled his latest romantic comedy Midnight in Paris at the Cannes International Film Festival last week, with the movie paying tribute to some of Woodys idols such as American author Ernest Hemingway and Spanish painter Salvador Dal.
Adrien Brody gives an amusing performance as Salvador, while Corey Stoll evokes Ernest.
Woody admits he would love to have met iconic cultural figures such as Salvador and Ernest, who died in 1989 and 1961 respectively, although he would be disappointed if they didnt live up to his expectations.
"I'd like to have met the real Hemingway, Matisse, Lautrec, Picasso, Dali, Stein. Not to know them as mankind's flawed images but to know them as I imagined they'd be. I'm an advocate for avoiding reality," he is quoted as saying in New York Post.
The moviemaker, 75, has shown no signs of slowing down in recent years. He still feels as passionately about writing as he always has, although would like to have more time to do so.
"I love to write. If I were a busboy, I'd still go home and write," he added. (C) Cover Media
