(Cover) - EN Movies - Paul Feig was impressed with the calibre of female comedic talent on his new film.
The American director is best known for creating the critically acclaimed show Freaks and Geeks and directing several episodes of The Office.
His latest project is Bridesmaids, an upcoming comedy starring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Matt Lucas, Chris ODowd, Melissa McCarthy and Jon Hamm. The movie was penned by Annie Mumolo and Kriten Wig and centres on character Annie, portrayed by Kristen, and her experiences as Maid of Honour for best friend Lilians wedding.
Paul says working with such funny actresses meant there was a goldmine of extras left over after post-production.
We have a lot of good stuff, I mean, thats the great thing about working with such funny women. Its such a great script Kristen and Annie wrote, and then empowering the actresses to do a lot of improvisation, we had writers on the set writing more jokes, so we have mountains and mountains of funny stuff, he explained in an interview with Collider.com. Usually you see a trailer for a comedy and you think youve seen all the funny jokes. With ours, you see a bunch of funny stuff, but there are funnier jokes in the movie.
Paul has joked that his career high was his appearance as Ron in American sitcom The Facts of Life that aired in the 70s and 80s. The 48-year-old featured in an episode of the comedy as a nerd, and says that the role paved the way for his future acting and directing career.
Such a diverse, important role in my life, he joked. Id have to choose Ron on Facts of Life, because thats where I got to portray a nerd realistically where I got to wear a propeller beanie hat. Its all been downhill from there, trying to recapture the magic of that moment. (C) Cover Media
