(Cover) - EN Movies - Writers James Toback and Barry Levinson will reunite for new movie Gotti: Three Generations.
Levinson will direct and rewrite the film, with additional writing by Toback. The pair previously worked on hit gangster 1991 movie Bugsy and executive producer Marc Fiore is thrilled to see them come together for the Gotti project.
"Everyone involved with the film is very excited to have James Toback on board," Fiore said. "His work with Barry Levinson on Bugsy resulted in a highly acclaimed film that was widely recognised for its original screenplay."
Levinson recently replaced Nick Cassavetes as director of the picture, and the first version of the script was penned by Leo Rossi.
The film will follow the relationship between John Gotti Sr., the head of the Gambino crime family who died in prison in 2002, and his son John Gotti Jr., who took over the family business for his father.
John Travolta has landed the role of Gotti Sr., while his wife Kelly Preston will portray Victoria, the wife of the late mafia don.
Joe Pesci and Lindsay Lohan have also been added to the cast.
Production is slated to begin in New York in the autumn, with a release date scheduled for 2013. (C) Cover Media
