Paul McCartney receives Hollywood Star

10th February 2012

Sir Paul McCartney has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The legendary Beatles singer is the last of the iconic band to be immortalised on the famous sidewalk.

Ringo Starr, George Harrison and John Lennon have all been presented with the honour.

Paul was thrilled as he took to the podium at the celebrations yesterday afternoon in Los Angeles.

"Way back in history, in Liverpool when we were kids and we were listening to Buddy Holly and all the rock 'n' roll greats, I would have never thought the day would come when I'd be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame," he gushed. "That was like an impossible thing to happen. But here we are today, and it's happening. But I couldn't have done it without, certainly, three boys - so I want to say thanks to those guys, John, George and Ringo,

"I couldn't have done it without them, so I want to thank those guys and bless them for being in my life."

Paul's wife Nancy Shevell was there to see the musician receive the star as was his son James.

The star was placed outside the Capitol Records building alongside those of band members John, George and Ringo - who was unable to attend the ceremony as he was reportedly feeling "under the weather".

The Beatles were given a star as a group in 1998.

John and George were given their individual stars almost eight years after their deaths in 1980 and 2001 respectively.

Ringo received the honour in 2010.
