Prince Harry to appear in reality show

18th August 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Prince Harry is helping to stage a TV talent show to find a new group of musicians.

The British royal has formed an unlikely friendship with drum-and-bass DJ Goldie after the pair met at a music concert in the UK last year. The pair became close and Goldie has convinced the prince to get involved with the BBC programme.

“You could barely conceive of two people who are more different on paper, but they got on like a house on fire,” a source said. “Harry invited Goldie to join him at a private party at the festival. The prince was chatting to everyone and got a couple of rounds in at the bar.”

Goldie is searching for a range of different musicians from hip-hop to classical to rock to take part in Goldie’s Band: By Royal Appointment. The budding music stars will receive coaching from songwriter Guy Chambers - who previously worked with Robbie Williams – singer Cerys Matthews and jazz star Soweto Kinch.

A final group of 12 musicians will perform at Buckingham Palace in front of Harry later this year.

“Harry is a fan of reality TV, but what is particularly good about this one is that it’s about mentoring and encouragement – nobody gets voted off or laughed at, so it’s not nasty at all,” a source told British newspaper The Daily Mail.

“Harry believes music can be a way for young people who haven’t had the best of starts in life to get a new chance.

“It features people from all musical backgrounds, from cellists to R&B artists.” (C) Cover Media
