Vito and Micheal Corleone are not just characters of a book but also the members of our film industry who have made their presence felt time and again.
'Simhasanam', which was initially intended to be a remake of the 1989 blockbuster 'Naduvazhikal', has been modified from the original script and is now more of a version of The Godfather.
"Simhasanam is inspired by The Godfather. It’s a father-son story told against the backdrop of modern day politics," said Prithviraj, who is an ardent fan of the action novel.
A Shaji Kailas venture, the film stars Prithviraj, Vandana and Aishwarya Devan in the lead roles. "The whole idea behind Simhasanam was born when Shaji sir talked to me about remaking Naduvazhikal, which in itself was inspired by The Godfather. Now it’s deviated a lot and is no longer a remake, but it’s got that Godfather element to it." expressed Prithviraj.
Indian Film Industry has felt the essence of Godfather time and again. 'Naduvazhikal' (1989), 'Nayagan' (1998), 'Sarkaar' (2005), 'Rajneeti' (2010) and now Simhasanam in 2012.
