(Cover) - EN Showbiz - R. Kelly can't wait to get back into the studio and start work on a new album.
The 44-year-old R&B star was rushed to hospital last month after complaining of severe throat pain. He had to undergo emergency throat surgery to drain an abscess on one of his tonsils.
Kelly has now posted a video on YouTube, and despite wearing a surgical mask he insists he is on the road to recovery.
"The doctors say the surgery went well, I know it may not look like it but it did," he said as he coughed. "I know there's a lot of negativity out there but please don't believe the hype, God is good, all the time.
"Soon as I get a chance I'm going back in the studio to work on my next album."
Kelly also thanked fans for their support since his surgery. He has urged them to keep praying for him and promised he will make a comeback soon.
"I want to say thanks to all the prayer warriors out there for supporting me. And praying for me," he told fans. "I want y'all to continue to pray for me. Be strong out there, I will be back."
In July, Kelly's spokesman Allan Mayer said the singer would be "laid up indefinitely". It is not yet known if the operation will have any lasting effect on the star's voice. (C) Cover Media
