December 13, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Raghu Dixit has long become famous for the variety of music that he usually presents whether on stage or on recording. Maintaining a balance between rock and folk, Raghu Dixits brand of music is the perfect mixture of traditional and modern India. And now the guitarist singer seems to be using the same formula in the clothes that he sports in his concerts and stage appearances. The latest photographs of Raghu Dixit in the media show him dressed in kurtas and lungis in a variety of color, teamed with ghungroos or anklets! Though this may seem a little bohemian to the present generation, Raghu Dixits style is soon catching up with the masses.

In a statement to the media, Raghu Dixit says that he had earlier thought about pairing his kurtas with jeans. However, as an afterthought, Raghu Dixit also thought that jeans and kurtas was already a style statement in the country and therefore there was nothing innovative about it. Thus came the colorful lungi kurta style, as innovative as his music!

As Raghu Dixits style of dressing has caught up with youth India, one wonders whether the colorful inspiration comes from his Bharatnatyam days. Though Raghu Dixit does not comment on this, he does recall his Bharatnatyam days when he was made to dance in the midst of several girls! Gone are those days and thanks to a friend of Raghu Dixits, he is one of the most sought after singer and composer in India today.
