Reema Sen in an 'item film'

4th May 2012

We all know what item numbers are, any idea about 'item film'? Well, Anurag Kashyap, the director of Reema Sen starrer Bollywood venture 'Gangs of Wasseypur', has desribed the movie as an 'item flick'.

Talking to the journalists, Kashyap said in a lighter vein, "My film has 25 item songs. In fact, it is an item film. When film is item, then item numbers are not required."

When the film was announced, there was a buzz that it was inspired by Telugu movie 'Ananthapuram 1980', which is a dubbed version of Tamil hit 'Subramaniapuram'.

Denying the claim, Kashyap said, "The film is based on true stories of Wasseypur (a small town near Dhanbad in Jharkhand), and tells a tale of revenge. It is funny, sad and there is full-on action. It is a family drama set across three generations and six decades."
