(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Rene Zellweger has opened up about her charity visit to Liberia.
The 41-year-old American actress recently visited the African country with good friend Mariella Frostrup on a mission to look at womens rights in the country and how they have changed since female president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf became leader in 2006.
Rene was thrilled to see that issues such as domestic violence have improved in recent years, and admits meeting various women during the trip was a humbling experience.
Listening to their stories of loss and horrendous tragedy bought great humility, she told the British edition of OK! magazine.
Rene is a staunch supporter of womens rights. She was fascinated to learn more about how the situation has improved for Liberian females in recent years.
I was so curious to witness the progress women have made through their efforts and their determination to be heard and influence changes in public policy in favour of gender equality, she added. (C) Cover Media
