(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Hugh Jackman has joked he decided to quit acting after being named Sexiest Man Alive.

The Australian movie star topped People magazines annual poll in 2008, and claims winning the title allowed him to realise his ultimate goal in life. Hugh has quipped that he chose to wind down his hectic movie career once he was given the honour, because there was nothing left for him to achieve. The hunk claims he put in a lot of effort to claim the title and is hoping he will win again this year.

Once I was named Sexiest Man Alive I just decided to quit. It is all downhill from now, he laughed in an interview with British television show Daybreak. It is something I am very proud of, it was my dream and I worked very, very hard to get it. Hopefully by the end of the year I will be able to announce my second term as Sexiest Man Alive.

The 42-year-old star was clearly joking about reducing his work schedule, as he appears in several movies this year, including Butter, Real Steel and Movie 43. He is also currently beefing up his physique to reprise his role as X-Men superhero Wolverine for 2012 release The Wolverine.

Despite his busy career, Hugh still finds time to devote to charity work. He is currently promoting Below the Line, a Global Poverty Project which encourages people to spend just 1 on food a day for five days, to raise awareness about billions of people who get by on that amount every day.

Hugh insists people can get involved with the scheme for as long as they want to - and he has already decided which cheap foods he will be feasting on.

Even if you dont want to do it for five days, just do it for one. If you dont want to give up food, just give up coffee, give up something. It is just a symbol to show awareness and I want to make it a priority at government level, he explained. Vegemite sandwiches that is what I grew up on! Five days?
