RGV's film on Veerappan free from controversy

30th December 2015

Ram Gopal Varma's upcoming biopic on notorious South forest brigand Veerappan had recently come under the line of fire as a petition was filed against the film seeking for a stay on the grounds of false informantion and wrongful depiction of characters.

But yesterday, the Madras High Court dismissed the petition and refused the stay on the film after the special government pleader submitted that he needed time to get instructions from the government on the petitioner’s other prayer for a directive to the State Home Secretary and the Regional Censor Board of Film Certification to file a report on issuing a 'U' certificate to the film.

Meanwhile the film also walked free of all hurdles when the Karnataka High Court dismissed an appeal filed by a Chennai-based producer seeking directions to restrain the filmmakers temporarily from releasing and exhibiting the film, based on the life of the forest brigand pending disposal of a suit.
