The two stars grew up together in Barbados, and it was Rihanna who convinced Shontelle to pursue a career in music. They are still very close and meet up whenever possible, with Shontelle admitting she always takes it as a compliment when she is compared to her pal as Rihanna is so pretty.

That must make me pretty hot because Rihannas a beast! she laughed, when asked by Look magazine how she deals with the comparisons. But I do wonder, When will you see me and not Rihanna? Im a totally different artist with a different sound.

Shontelle has high hopes for her new single Perfect Nightmare, and says Rihanna is also certain it will do well. The two women spend as much time as possible with each other, and Rihanna was one of the first to hear Shontelles new release.
