December 16, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Neil Diamond and Alice Cooper finally seem to get their due - nominations to join the prestigious music club, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. When asked, Diamond said that he had thought about it occasionally but realized they would get around to him at some time. Cooper too admitted that he felt it would happen to him eventually.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame considers an artist eligible once they have completed 25 years after the release of his first album. The 2011 class for the Hall of Fame was announced on Tuesday.
62 years old Cooper, who had rocked the world with his 'Schools Out' and 'Im Eighteen', felt it was high time his band got this recognition. Diamond, 69, said he is very proud to be a part of a club which also has Everly Brothers, Chuck Berry and Little Richard as its members.
Darlene Love is also one of the inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. She came to know when she was going to Atlantic City for a private Christmas party. The Hes a Rebel singer is on cloud nine and confesses that she was stunned at first and was laughing and crying at the same time.
The others on this times list are song writer and singer Tom Waits and New Orleans musician Dr. John. The ones who were turned away from the hall this year are Donna Summer, Bon Jovi, the J. Geils Band and LL Cool J.
The inductees will take their honors at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City on March 14, 2011. Catch the ceremony on Fuse.
