Ronnie Wood: We keep our chops together

26th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ronnie Wood insists musicians "like to keep our chops together".

The rock star, who is currently touring with 1970s band Faces for a series of reunion concerts, explained his involvement in the group's comeback doesn't mean that he or any of the other Faces members have left their other musical projects behind.

The 64-year-old thinks it is important to keep talents fresh by working on different things.

"We all like to keep our chops together, whichever way it might be you'd be a fool not to and it's important to take it for a walk every now and again, your talent, whatever it maybe," he told the BBC.

"The novelty never really wears off but it's a shame to let your fingers go soft. All the work you put in to making the pads on your fingers when you're playing guitar I mean I can put a lighter [under my finger] and not feel a thing when I'm really in the heyday of my touring. They're still tough!"

New Faces singer Mick Hucknall, best known for his musical success with Simply Red, revealed that he doesn't really rehearse ahead of gigs.

He said that while he warms up his voice, he likes to keep his performance fresh for the stage.

"No, no, I don't," he said when asked if he practised a lot. "I've got a little set of vocal exercises that I do before I start but generally speaking I don't do anything really. I just love singing, especially with these boys." (C) Cover Media
