(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Rose Byrne says she is still "rebooting" from the break-down of her seven year relationship.

The Australian actress has been single for over a year following the break-up from her long-term partner Brendan Cowell. After spending seven years together, the stunning star has revealed she has found it challenging to recover from such a significant relationship.

"We split up a year ago and it's hard," she told Psychologies magazine. "You spend such a long time with someone, from such a young age, and it's a crucial time in your life. I'm still rebooting from my relationship. I don't actively seek dates with people right now."

Although their romance did not work out, Rose has admitted that her former partner has some stellar qualities that she wishes to find in another partner. Rose insists laughter is the key to her heart.

"My ex was very funny. It's one of the top things I look for. It usually means they're smart. I wouldn't find him attractive, otherwise. It's a bonding thing," she said.

Rose is incredibly cosmopolitan and knows a thing or two about dating scenes in different cities. The star says New Yorkers have a "high standard" and often look for women of a supermodel-standard.

"In Sydney people just get drunk and sleep together. That's what happens in London too. It's easier. In New York, people go on dates and it's much more formal. And men in New York have such high standards. They all want to be dating [the Brazilian supermodel] Gisele. In LA it's very much where are you on the ladder?'" she confessed.

Rose says she is unsure about whether or not marriage is in her future. The brunette beauty says she has never dreamt of a big white wedding.

"I guess it depends who you're with, but I've never been that person who fantasised about her wedding I don't know if I'm anti-establishment," she added. (C) Cover Media
