(Cover) - EN Movies - Rose Byrne says she would "love" to land more comedy roles.
The actress, who has previously starred in mainly horror or sci-fi movies, was cast for her role in new movie Bridesmaids after appearing in 2010 comedy Get Him to the Greek.
Best known for her role in TV drama Damages, the 31-year-old was given her role as one of the outrageous bridesmaids after producer Judd Apatow noticed her when she played Russell Brand's twisted ex-wife.
"I would love to do more comedy. It's been such a pleasure doing it," she told British newspaper The Daily Mail. "Judd was very funny when people asked him why he cast me in Bridesmaids when I'm not known for doing comedy and he was like, She's so funny on Damages, she's hilarious!'"
The Australian star also explained that while Bridesmaids centres around a similar topic as hit comedy The Hangover, they are very different films.
Both movies focus on respective bachelor and bachelorette parties that get out of control, but the gorgeous brunette insists that they don't compare.
"I don't think that comparison comes from people once they have seen it. It's wildly flattering, I thought The Hangover was really funny. But I think plot-wise, they are really different. I think most people say that but then after they've seen it, they say, Oh, it's really nothing like it'," she said. (C) Cover Media
