(Cover) - EN Showbiz - The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have donated an expensive wedding gift.
Prince William and Catherine received a Mountain Rescue Team Land Rover following their April 29 nuptials but have given it a new home.
They Royal couple passed the vehicle on to Mountain Rescue England and Wales who held a draw to choose the recipient.
Prince Harry randomly selected the winner at Clarence House by pulling the name out of a helmet that had a choice of a possible 26 rescue teams.
The Patterdale team in the Lake District won the prize but gifted the vehicle to the Glossop Mountain Rescue Team who gratefully accepted it.
"The vehicle will be greatly appreciated," Keith Montgomery, honorary secretary of Glossop Mountain Rescue Team said in a statement.
"Our present vehicle only has a shelf life of about six month and we were embarking on a major fundraising exercise to raise more than 45,000 to replace it."
William and Catherine had asked that members of the public who wanted to give them a gift should donate to one of their 26 hand-picked charities instead.
Their wedding gift fund raised more than 1 million through the dedicated website. (C) Cover Media
