(Cover) - EN Showbiz - The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were inundated with flowers and gifts as they met with well-wishers in Ottawa, Ontario, yesterday.
The royal couple, who married in a high-profile ceremony at the end of April, landed in the Canadian province on the first afternoon of their 11-day tour of Canada and the US.
During the seven hour forty minute flight, Catherine changed from a formal and fitted Roland Mouret dress and blazer to a more relaxed navy lace Erdem Moralioglu dress, which showcased the beauty's enviable figure to perfection.
Catherine, 29, looked delighted as she accepted flowers and gifts as she greeted hoards of fans following a wreath laying ceremony at the National War Memorial.
"Thank you so much. We are so delighted to be here," she told the crowds.
The new royal occasionally looked over to her husband, who was greeting fans on the other side of the crowd, to ensure she was moving quickly enough through the masses of people who had come to greet them.
Britain's Prince William was all smiles as one female fan told him, "Canada is so happy you are here," before replying, "Thank you, that is so kind."
Later, William gave his first speech of the tour in both French and English. The public discourse is the first time the royal has spoken in a foreign language in public.
"Catherine and I are so delighted to be here in Canada. Instilled in us by our parents and grandparents, who love this country, we have been looking forward to this moment for a very long time - and before we were married, we both had a longing to come here together," he told the crowds.
After the public event, the couple enjoyed a more relaxed soiree at Rideau Hall, the Governor General's 175-room official residence. They then joined a barbecue to meet more young Canadians.
This trip is William's third visit to Canada and Catherine's first.
After nine days travelling the Canadian provinces they are due to go south to California. (C) Cover Media
