(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sandra Bullock thinks Elizabeth Taylor's AIDs charity work was "amazing".
Sandra attended the amfAR Inspiration LA Gala on Sunday night to pay tribute to Elizabeth. The deceased actress spearheaded amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, and became Founding National Chairman of the non-profit organisation in the mid 80s when the disease first reached epidemic status.
Sandra admires Elizabeth deeply for her courage.
"[Elizabeth] decided to step up in a time when that wasn't fashionable when no one else is doing it and became the voice," Sandra told ET Online. "So many other people could have had her voice, but she decided to lend it to this cause. It's pretty amazing."
Current CEO of amfAR Kevin Frost thinks that Elizabeth would be happy to know that Sandra paid tribute to her efforts at this event. Before she passed on, Elizabeth deeply admired Sandra's work.
"Elizabeth, when she was alive, was a huge fan of Sandra and used to rent her movies at the house," Kevin told ET. "So it's quite wonderful Sandra could be here to pay tribute."
Since its inception in 1985, amfAR has invested more than $325 million in its programmes. The organisation has also has awarded grants to more than 2000 research teams internationally.
Selma Blair, Deborah Harry, Josh Duhamel and Sinead O'Connor also attended the event. (C) Cover Media
