(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Saoirse Ronan says some of the physical scenes in Hanna are a result of movie magic.

17-year-old Irish actress has been making a big impact in the new action thriller, which is helmed by British director Joe Wright.

The film, which follows a teenage assassin who has been trained to kill since childhood, also stars Cate Blanchett, and Eric Bana, and features a number of fight sequences and action scenes.

Saoirse, who has previously revealed that the energetic fights in the movie took a couple of months of preparation, tried to do as much as possible, but sometimes needed the help of camera trickery.

The pull ups are movie magic, she laughed in an interview with BBC breakfast. I tried to do the chin ups and I couldnt even do one!

Saoirse revealed the high action content in the movies script was one of the main reasons behind her choosing to star in the title role. The talented star, who says her work-out regime made a noticeable difference to her body, was initially struck by the challenge of preparing physically for the part.

Ive never done anything like Hanna before. That was one of the reasons I decided to take the part. I liked the idea of physically preparing for a role as Ive never done that before, she explained. I worked out and I did martial arts. I suddenly had arms that werent there before.

The actress who is fast emerging as one of the industrys brightest stars after appearing in The Lovely Bones and Atonement also revealed she appreciated the set locations. The cast and crew filmed the movie in both Finland and Morocco, and Saoirse says she was clued-up about the extreme climates.

Morocco was like 50 degrees. I had been there the year before and none of the team had and they were excited for the sun, she explained. I was like No guys! (C) Cover Media
