Sarah Jessica Parker happy to serve as juror

14th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sarah Jessica Parker insists she was keen to serve jury duty when called because she doesn't "shirk" her civic responsibilities.

The actress was called up for jury service yesterday and there were claims she was unhappy about the concept. The star has raises son James Wilkie, eight, and 23-month-old twins Marion and Tabitha with her husband Matthew Broderick. It was reported she was unhappy about having to be at the courthouse because one of her daughters was ill, but Sarah Jessica insists that was blown out of proportion.

"I was ready, willing and able to serve," she told New York Post's Bruce Golding. "I never once raised my hand. I don't shirk any of my civic responsibilities."

The 46-year-old was eventually allowed home without having to complete duty after the jury was filled up without her.

Sarah Jessica prides herself on being a good citizen and wants to show her kids how vital it is to be an active member of society.

The actress is best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, the TV show which has been made into two movies. The second was released last year to lukewarm reviews and Sarah Jessica's co-star Kim Cattrall has admitted she doubts they will return for a follow up.

"I don't know if it will happen. I really, really have no idea. I love playing Samantha Jones. I would love playing Samantha Jones again, but I don't know if I will," she recently said. "Originally I was asked to do the movie with no script, no start date, and a very paltry sum. I thought the three of us should fight for a piece of what we created and that was my reluctance."
